IDW Photos from SDCC '07

The mayhem that is San Diego Comic-Con has come and gone once more, but we've collected some pictures to help bring you up to speed with what IDW was up to during the event. Check 'em out!

30 Days of Night was a big part of our Con this year, as the movie releases in October, and our 30 Days titles keep rolling off the presses. On Saturday morning co-creators Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith came by for a signing, accompanied by 30 Days director David Slade, as well as legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz, who will be handling the art for the upcoming series Beyond Barrow. Here Steve shoots a glance at the camera while David Slade interacts with the fans.

The Sony Pictures booth flying the 30 Days of Night movie poster. Nice.

As the 30 Days signing wound down (okay, that's a lie... it kept on going) Gene Simmons and Nick Simmons showed up to sign copies of their new projects, Gene Simmons House of Horrors and Nick Simmons Skulldugery, respectively. The fans came out in full-force, powered by a lust for comics, and maybe, just maybe, hopes of showing up in a future segment of Gene Simmons Family Jewels. Although we sold out of Gene's new book, people were happy to grab the Con-Exclusive Skullduggery/Simmons Comics Group preview edition, or pick up a poster. Can Gene draw a crowd? You bet your ass he can!

A giant KISS tattoo like this guy's deserves an autograph from the demon himself. Gene's more used to signing skin for the ladies, but he made do here just fine.

Another signing in the IDW booth was with our TRANSFORMERS creators. Masters like Simon Furman, Don Figueroa, E.J. Su, Andrew Wildman, Alex Milne, and Eric Holmes were on-hand, and fans took full advantage. Wonder how many copies of their new Best of... books Simon and Don signed for fans? Couldn't tell you, we lost count.

Don takes a break from the fans to sign the tip-in plate for the upcoming IDW's Art of Transformers hardcover. Thanks for the autographs guys!

Sticking with the TRANSFORMERS theme for another minute, here the Hasbro and IDW teams enjoy some dinner while discussing all the exciting TF projects on their way in 2008.

The festivites continued right over to the IDW and Heavy Metal sponsored party, where comics industry types mixed work and pleasure, generously.

One night after the show Jim Mahfood hosted a "Live Art" party at a local bar called the Kava Lounge. DJs mixed up tunes while guys like Jim, Ashley Wood, and more created original paintings on the spot. Here we see Ash and Jim before everything got underway.

Here we see Ash working on one of the pieces he churned out during the show. Was he moving and grooving with the music? We guess these photos will never tell.

This is one of the pieces Ash created and the art show. Recognize any characters?

And that was about it. Okay, maybe there was a lot more, but we can't have pictures of everything, so deal with it. SDCC '07 was good to IDW and we hope it was great for all of you, too. Thanks for reading our books and coming by to see us at the show. See everyone next year!
