New York Times Bestselling Author and Celebrated Star Wars Artist Helm a Comic Book Miniseries of Phantasms and Floating Prisons
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 18, 2022) – IDW is proud to announce the December release of Dead Seas, the highly-anticipated original comic book series by Cavan Scott and Nick Brokenshire. Part Poseidon Adventure, part The Haunting of Hill House, this supernatural thriller reunites the fan-favorite Star Wars writer-and-artist team for a tale of specters, prisoners, pirates, and disaster on the open ocean!
In Dead Seas, ghosts are real and very dangerous…but they’re also valuable, their ectoplasm capable of curing countless diseases. There’s only one problem: harvesting the wonder drug can be just as deadly. Prisoner Gus Ortiz is willing to take the risk in return for a reduced sentence—anything to see his daughter again. All it will take is a few months at sea scraping ectoplasm off the walls of the Perdition, a floating prison containing the most vicious ghosts on Earth. Surrounded by dark waters, Gus soon realizes that angry spirits are the least of his worries!

Cavan Scott is a New York Times bestselling author whose work includes novels, television, comic books, and award winning audio dramas. He has written for a large number of high-profile series including Star Wars, Batman, Doctor Who, Assassin’s Creed, Pacific Rim, Transformers, Back to the Future, Star Trek, Vikings, Adventure Time, and more. In 2018, Cavan became one of the five story architects selected to create Lucasfilm’s new multi-media initiative, Star Wars: The High Republic, and writes the bestselling Marvel comic of the same name. Nick Brokenshire is a comic book artist from Aberdeen, Scotland. He is a writer/artist for IDW’s Star Wars Adventures, including stories that include Darth Vader, Asajj Ventress, IG-88, and Max Rebo. Nick is also co- creator/artist of Cold Iron written by Andy Diggle, and co-creator/artist of The Once and Future Queen. He has worked on various stories and covers for Heavy Metal, 2000AD, Judge Dredd, and Robotech. He plays in a band called Vencidos.
